User Guide

Markets have retraced and extended in recurring proportions and patterns for centuries. Similar patterns appear throughout nature—from seashell spirals to sunflower seed arrangement—and traders also observe them in financial markets. OT Fibonacci identifies these levels and the Fibonacci and Lucas dates when market turns may occur. It combines them with a two-line trend system and moving-average crosses to show which way the market is leaning.

Getting started

Type a symbol under the range buttons and the chart draws it. Everything else in the app builds on that one symbol.

Tab

What you get

Free or Pro? The line chart, its levels and color bars, the Data view with every Fibonacci level and date, and your watchlists are free. OT Fibonacci Pro adds bar charts, DJIA History, VIX trading, options levels and the AI Analyzer, with Siri. Pro is $5.99 a month or $59.99 a year, and both start with a free trial. If you bought bar charts, DJIA History or VIX before, they stay yours.

Tip: tap Data for the full Fibonacci toolkit: retracements, extensions, and the Fibonacci, Lucas and prime-number dates.

The chart

The chart is intentionally clean: price, a smoothed average, and range levels on top; the two trend lines underneath; and color bars that summarize it all. The detailed Fibonacci numbers appear in the Data view.

Choosing 2Y or 5Y also switches your watchlist to weekly data. Pinch to zoom, drag with two fingers to pan, and double-tap to reset. On iPad, Line / Bar / Trend changes how price is drawn; Bar and Trend are part of Pro.

Price and levels

  • White line: the closing price. Touch the chart for a crosshair.
  • Smoothed average: a centred moving average that shows the underlying trend without the day-to-day noise.
  • Level lines: the visible range divided at 25%, 37.5%, 50%, 62.5% and 75%, close to the classic 38.2% and 61.8%. The bold, labelled line is the 50% halfway point. Turn the lines off with Fib level lines in settings.

·        Color bar under the price: green when the average and the daily trend both point up, red when both point down, yellow when they disagree.

  • T at the top: how many bars the daily trend line has run since it turned.

The two trend lines

  • Solid line, the daily trend: steps up when the close is above the pivot line, down otherwise. It's the fast line.
  • Dashed line, the daily swing line: compares today's close with the weekly pivot line. It's the slow line, the bigger swing.

·        Color bar along the top of the pane: green when both lines step up, red when both step down, yellow when they disagree. This is the daily signal: Buy, Sell or Hold.

  • Red and green ticks along the bottom: Fibonacci (5, 8, 13, 21, 34, 55, 89, 144) or Lucas (7, 11, 18, 29, 47, 76, 123) bar counts from the period's low (red) and high (green). Choose Fibo or Lucas in settings.

Options levels (Pro)

In settings, choose Options: Off, OI, Gamma, or Both, and use the Expected move switch as needed. Dotted lines then show the largest call open interest (green), put open interest (orange), max pain (red), gamma wall (purple), put wall (pink), gamma flip (light blue), and expected move (grey).

The Data view: the full Fibonacci toolkit

  • Trend and Swing boxes: the direction of the average and the daily trend.
  • 5 X 8 and 8 X 34 boxes: green when the faster moving average is above the slower one. These crosses drive the weekly moving-average trend on the AI card.

·        Low, High and User: the period's low and high with their dates, plus a price and date you choose.

  • Retracements from the high: 23.6%, 38.2%, 50%, 61.8% and 78.6%, plus the same measured up to your price.

·        Range extensions: 127.2%, 138.2%, 150%, 161.8%, 200%, 261.8% and 423.6%, projected upward from the low, downward from the high, and in both directions from your price.

  • Fibonacci dates: 5 to 144 calendar days from the low, high and your date.
  • Fibonacci time extensions: the gap between the low and high, projected forward by 0.382 to 4.236.
  • Lucas and prime-number dates: 7 to 199 days, and 19 to 109 days, from the same points.

·        ◀◀Previous and ▶▶Next: step through your watchlist without leaving the Data view.

Watchlists

Your watchlists run the two-line trend system on every symbol at once. Tap WL to open them (on iPad they sit beside the chart); they sync across your devices through iCloud.

  • B (green): the daily trend and swing line both step up.
  • S (red): both step down.
  • H (yellow): the swing line is up but the trend dipped, a pullback in an uptrend.
  • H, orange: the swing line is down but the trend bounced, a retracement in a downtrend.
  • T, shown as "3 | 7": how many bars the daily trend and the swing line have each run since they turned. Each number is green while its line rises, red while it falls.
  • Daily or weekly: the list follows the chart. Pick 2Y or 5Y and the columns read B/S W and T W, on weekly bars.

Tip: a yellow H that pulls back to a 38.2% or 50% retracement in the Data view, then turns back into a B, is a textbook Fibonacci entry.

How the pieces fit: the classic Fibonacci trade lines up all three: an up weekly MA trend, a pullback (yellow H) into a 38.2% to 61.8% retracement, and a Fibonacci or Lucas date arriving as the daily signal turns back to Buy.

VIX and DJIA History

VIX: the market's mood in one color

The VIX tab compares the S&P 500 (SPY) with the VIX, Wall Street's fear gauge. Each has a yellow average line; the signal compares both with their respective averages.

Signal

When

What it means

GREEN

SPY above its average while the VIX is below its average

Stocks rising and fear falling: a healthy market

RED

SPY below its average while the VIX is above its average

Stocks falling and fear rising: be careful

YELLOW

Both above or both below their averages

Mixed: no clear message

  • Lower strip: the signal on each bar.
  • Upper strip: the last confirmed GREEN or RED, held through the yellow bars, so you see which regime you're in.
  • On the AI tab: analyze right after viewing the VIX tab and the AI explains the pair.

DJIA History: has this year happened before?

The Dow has more than 140 years of history, and some years rhyme. DJIA History overlays past years on the target year, so you can see which years it is tracking and how they finished.

  • Target box: the year you're studying, drawn in white. It starts as this year.

·        Year boxes: up to 20 comparison years, each in its own color.

  • Correlation row: how closely each year has tracked the target so far. 100% is a perfect match; negative means it moved the opposite way.
  • Red Avg line: the average of the comparison years, a ready-made roadmap for the rest of the target year.
  • Checkboxes: hide or show the years in groups of five.
  • Correlation table: every year since 1886 ranked by how closely it matches.
